Cornwall Special Educational Needs Disability Information and Advice Support Service

This friendly and dedicated team can provide information, advice, support and training for young people and parents and carers of children with special educational needs and / or disabilities (age 0-25).

The service is confidential, independent, impartial and free.

Sendiass can provide support with

  • Information and guidance on the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice
  • Exclusions from school of children with special educational needs and disabilities
  • School admissions
  • Refer you to one of our dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support officers for further support
  • Signpost you to other relevant services
  • Offer training opportunities for parents and professionals
  • Provide support for groups of parents/carers and young people
  • Help with access to impartial resolution and mediation services
  • Arrange support for you at relevant meetings
  • Help with access to impartial resolution and mediation services

  • Refer you to an Independent Supporter for help throughout the EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) process

The Family Information Service (FIS) provides a range of information on all
services available to parents/carers, including parents of disabled children.

Cornwall Dyslexia Association

Cornwall Association aims to support the needs of dyslexic children and young people in education and their families, as well as adults who are out of work, in education, training or in the workplace. They offer advice and guidance to parents, partners and friends of dyslexics as well as dyslexics themselves.
