Reading Karate!

Feedback from the recent reading survey (full report coming soon) indicated that some parents/carers would like the school to introduce a reading reward scheme. Pupil conferencing suggests that pupils would also be very keen to be rewarded for their reading. That’s the idea behind Reading Karate!

On Monday, our brand new reading reward scheme kicks off! The Reading Ambassadors have worked hard to organise the details and we can now reveal how it is going to work.

Pupils will be rewarded for reading in their own time. Every time they read* (for a minimum of ten minutes), please sign their Reading Record to say that they have read. Each signature will be recorded in class and when pupils have read a certain number of times, they will earn a belt (wristband). Full details of how many ‘reads’ are needed to earn each belt are included in the Power Point below.

*Reading can be to, with or in the presence of a parent/carer/Reading Mentor.
