Welcome from two of our Year 6 Pupils
Welcome to the Camelford Primary School website. Our names are Henry and Roxy. We are Year 6 students and during our time here at this school we have learnt a lot! Camelford Primary School is a special place and we’d love to tell you all about it.
Our lovely school is very inclusive and is full of friendly pupils and teachers. We welcome everyone and are very proud to have our own ARB (Area Resource Base). We have 12 classes, which are all named after beaches in Cornwall, that ascend from Reception to KS1 and KS2.
On Google Classroom, there are links for 3 websites; Times Table Rockstars (TTRS), Complete Maths and Accelerated Reader. TTRS is great for improving your child's knowledge and speed of the times tables. Complete Maths tests your brain on easy and tricky questions. It also has a ‘Remember’ quiz to refresh your memory. AR - Accelerated Reader - lets you quiz on books and gets you a score that will hopefully bust your half-termly target!
At the end of each week, we have a Praise Assembly for the whole school. In each class, 3 awards will be given out: one Citizen of the Week and 2 Praise Awards. Each teacher will pick their award-winning students based on what they have done over the past week. Also announced are the winning classes for AR challenges (e.g the most words read by a class etc).
There are some very special privileges for the Y6 students. This includes being able to get an Ambassador role. The Ambassador roles include: Reading, PE, Eco, Whole School and IT. We work around the school doing our roles and helping the teachers during lessons. Also, you can be a Play Leader and support the Reception children. Everyone works hard to earn Dojo points and get stars for their Citizen Badges. There are 4 levels of Citizenship that we work towards and it helps to make our school a wonderful place to be everyday because everyone really looks out for each other.
One of the best things about our school are the grounds. We have a brand new playground on the field that has a slide, climbing frames, a swing and more! We love playing on the field on sunny days and on not-so-sunny days, we have the playground where we can play with lots of equipment from the shed, or have a go on the Trim Trail. We are always encouraged to join in games and stay active at lunchtime.
There is so much more we could tell you but there is not enough time here, so please come and visit us so we can tell you more about our amazing After School Clubs, our Chromebooks and iPads, our beautiful library…the list is endless!
See you soon,
from Roxy and Henry
Welcome- We hope you enjoy exploring our website which will give you a glimpse of what makes us special.
I am delighted to welcome you to our school. There is something very special about Camelford and we are incredibly proud of the place 'where every person matters!'
At Camelford, we strive to ensure that every child achieves their full potential and is prepared for the next phase of their education. We are driven to ensure that we teach our children the value of our community, the environment, each other and learning. We hope our pupils look back on their time with us and remember it as a place where they were valued. We work tirelessly to ensure our pupils leave us confident, proud and ambitious. We hope our 3 school promises, 'We are Safe', 'We are Ready' and 'We are Respectful' develop in our learners a sense of belonging and a respect for community and each other.
Our children are wonderful ambassadors, so if you would like to know more about our school family, our children and I would be delighted to show you around and introduce you to everyone who makes Camelford such a special and incredible place.

'I am a Cornish Child' - Learning about Diversity
Inspired by the poem, 'I am an African Child', our pupils investigated, compared and debated what it is to be Cornish. They thought about culture, experience and perspective. They reflected on what it means to be growing up in Cornwall in 2021 and then classes created a performance poem of their own, 'I am a Cornish Child'. Have a listen and enjoy.
This work was part of a 3 week topic focussing on Cornwall as a sense of place and included a trip to Roughtor, an art exhibition and learning a Harry Glasson song, 'Cornwall, My Home'. Harry visited school and inspired the children to be proud of who they are and where they come from.
