Reading

This term we are reading Roald Dahl's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' alongside to aid our Chocolate Topic. Port Isaac are loving this book and we can't wait to see what happens next!

"Willy Wonka's Choclate Factory is opening at last! But only five lucky children will be allowed inside. And the winners are; Augustus Gloop, an enormously fat boy whose hobbies are eating; Veruca Salt, a spiled-rotten brat whose parents are wrapped around her little finger; Violet Beauregarde, a dim-witted gum-chewer whose jaws are the fastest around; Mike Teavee, a toy pistol-shooting ganster-in-training who is obsessed with television; and Charlie Bucket, our hero, a boy who is honest and kind, brave and true, and ready for the wildest day of his life!!!"

If your child enjoyed reading this, they may enjoy other Roald Dahl books;
- Matilda
- Georges Marvellous Medicine
- The BFG
- The Twits
- The Witches
- Danny Champion of the World

“The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives.”
- Matilda

Please keep up the reading at home so that your child can earn their stickers!

The Eden Project

What a fantastic day we had at the Eden Project!

The children were brilliantly behaved, excellent listeners and showed huge amounts of curiousity.

After the long bus journey, Port Isaac took part in 'The Crazy Chef Challenge' where we explored the biomes to find ingredients to create a global cake. The cake included chocolate, banana, orange, raisins, cinnamon, sugar and flour. For each ingredient we located the plant in the biome and then learned where the food was grown or made. The chef was definitely crazy, but cooked us the most delicious cake!

In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to explore the Mediterranean and Rainforest Biome (which was very very hot!) to discover plants that are grown all over the world. We even got the chance to play in the minibeast hotel!

A great day had by all!
